About Cathedra Institute

Our Mission

Cathedra Institute exists to make serious, reverent theological education freely available to anyone who wants it. We built it for the whole span of the journey: for the person opening a Bible for the very first time, for the lifelong believer who wants to go deeper, and for the student ready for seminary-depth work. Wherever you are on that path, Cathedra is meant to meet you there and take you as far as you want to go.

We believe this kind of learning belongs to everyone, not only to those who can attend a seminary. So we keep it free, we teach with care at every level, and we let the original languages of Scripture (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek) open the text in ways translation alone cannot.

Our name carries our hope. A cathedra is the teaching chair, the seat from which instruction is given. We want to offer that chair to everyone, without cost and without barrier.

What You Can Do Here

Cathedra is organized as a path, from foundations through the biblical languages, exegesis, theology, and applied study, up to capstone work. Here you can:

Who We Are

Cathedra Institute is a nonprofit organization, a recognized 501(c)(3). We are a small team who love Scripture and believe this kind of learning should be within reach of everyone, in any season of life. We are ecumenical by conviction: Cathedra is not the project of one denomination, and it is not here to win you to a tradition. It is here to help you study well.

What We Hold

We stand within the historic Christian faith, in the stream shared by believers across the centuries and across traditions. We hold Scripture as our first and highest authority, and we teach in a way that honors it. On the many questions where sincere Christians have long differed, our aim is not to settle the argument for you but to equip you to study, to weigh, and to grow in understanding. You are welcome here, wherever you are on the way.

Free, and Staying Free

We intend for Cathedra to remain free. The core content will not be placed behind a paywall. As a nonprofit, we are sustained by the generosity of people who believe in this work. If Cathedra has been a gift to you, you can help keep it a gift to others:

Thank you for being here.
